Community Participation Support

Community Living Care Inc. (CLC) offers day services for people with disabilities and special needs. This is a licensed service provided to people who are age 18 or older who have a diagnosis of an intellectual disability. Whether we are meeting the needs of a person expanding their horizons or a senior who is ready to take life at a slower pace, our program is for you.

The people we serve are our first priority and the quality of service that we provide is our greatest responsibility. It is the intent of CLC to support a person regardless of what stage of life they are in. Our services adapt to meet their current needs. We look forward to having the opportunity to serve you and your loved ones in our program.

Community Participation Support

Live, Laugh, & Learn

At the CPS program, people learn, maintain, or improve skills through their participation in a variety of everyday activities that are of interest to them. Once the participant’s skill level and unique needs are determined, goals are developed so that activities that are of interest to the person can be enjoyed. For example, if a person would like to improve fine motor function, the team may develop an activity where the participant goes to a local church or business to help sort coins for a mission project or silverware for a local restaurant. In this way, they are working on their desired skill area while expanding their social network and participating in and giving back to the community. Or if the person is more comfortable participating in such activities at our center, we can complete the activity inhouse in a familiar environment. Our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are specifically trained to provide instruction and support for these activities all while assisting the participant with other special needs no matter the surroundings. These activities can be provided in house or in the community at large. The service is offered in the day light hours, Monday through Friday.

This service is based out of two locations within Westmoreland County. Our first location is conveniently located in downtown Greensburg at 115 Vannear Ave. This location was established in 1991 and has grown into a program with multifaceted opportunities. This program is dually licensed by the Office of Developmental Programs and the Office of Aging. This location allows for an enhanced level of partnership with local community members such as the local college, businesses, churches, and various volunteer organizations. The second location is on 193 9th St. in New Florence. This small town location established in 2009 affords many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and surrounding amenities while offering a smaller, quieter, more intimate, family style atmosphere for socializing, developing, and maintaining skills. This program has also forged relationships with the local community members and businesses to provide opportunities for enhanced socialization and skill development, volunteer programs and leisure activities while maintaining an appropriate level of staff support.
